Educational Programs

Over the Winter and Spring of 2007 Fiberart International 2007 provided the Allegheny Traditional Academy Elementary School with fiber artist Tina Brewer as artist–in–residence for 20 days. Ms. Brewer worked with teachers and students to explore ideas, techniques, and projects in fiber.

During the residency 22 students learned basic techniques that they used as they responded to art viewed in the Fiberart International 2007 exhibition. They produce individual projects as well as a permanent, collaborative installation for the school.

On May 18 the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh hosted an end-of-project celebration and provided exhibition space for the collaborative project where it resided until it returned to the school for permanent installation.
